DAY 1 & 2

Kouga Wildernis – Tiergrot

Day 1 – Main Camp
Arrive from 14h00 and settle into our welcoming main camp, enjoying a relaxed evening before the adventure begins. Pitch your tent, meet the donkeys, and spoil them with healthy treats as your guide prepares you for the journey ahead. The camp offers hot showers, electricity, a pool, lapa, fridge space, and safe parking. In the morning, pack up with your guide, saddle the donkeys, and set off together into the wilderness.
Day 2 – Tiergrot
An easy 11km hike (with a shorter 5km option) leads you through Sukkelpoort with an amazing diversity of vegetation to Tiergrot cave. After unpacking and caring for the donkeys, enjoy a swim in a nearby rock pool or relax at camp. This historic cave, once home to Khoi-San bushmen, still holds ancient rock art and powerful stories of survival. End the day around the fire beneath a sky lit by the Southern Cross.

day3 & 4

Tiergrot to Bergkamp

Day 3 – Bergkamp
With your guide, pack up and saddle the donkeys for a 10km hike through the Kouga Mountains, enjoying close-up views and rich flora before arriving at Bergkamp. Unpack and groom the donkeys, take a refreshing swim in the mountain river pool, and settle in for the night. Bergkamp sits beneath Smutsberg along the Kleinrivier, offering hot showers, flush toilets, a river pool, and cozy bonfire evenings under a star-filled sky.
Day 4 – Return to Main Camp
Pack up and hike 14km across Blouberg, passing more rock art and stunning mountain vistas before descending to Main Camp. Rinse and groom the donkeys, say goodbye, and savor the final comforts of camp before returning home with lasting memories. For extra adventure, try the Kleinrivier Kloof route — a marked track with short swims, while donkeys return with the guide. Drybags are provided as flotation aids, and an extra guide can be arranged if needed.

Return apart from the donkeys through the canyon — with short swims through deep mountain pools. Dry bags provided.
